Vive Vivi — Gratiaen Prize 2008: NOTHING PREPARES YOU

Vivimarie VanderPoorten was judged as the winner of the Gratiaen Prize 2008, yesterday, the 26th. She received the honours [and Rs. 100,000 mind you] for her ispirational collection of poetry “Nothing Prepares You” (Zeus, 2007).

Correction. Not ‘ahead of Sumathy and Malinda’ but ahead of Sumathy and Ramya. The judges said they basically had to pick among Sumathy, Vivimarie and Ramya.

Malinda, I think the reference is to our own entry regards the shortlist a fortnight ago. There, we singled out Malinda, Sumathy and Vivimaire. Nothing against Ramya or the judges.
